What does CE mean for my roastery?
CE is not a universal certification applying to every product.
CE marking is required only for product categories covered by specific harmonised EU legislation. Many relevant electrical and electronic devices are covered by rules requiring CE marking.
The manufacturer is generally responsible for:
- identifying applicable legislation
- carrying out the conformity assessment
- preparing technical documentation
- issuing the EU declaration of conformity where required
- affixing the CE mark
A distributor or retailer must nevertheless act with due care and should not sell a product it knows, or should reasonably believe, is non-compliant.
smoasters provides available compliance information for products offered through the platform.
